Founded in 1994, SPARK operates across the Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting youth through higher education, entrepreneurship, and skills development. By fostering local partnerships and long-term programmes, SPARK helps build more stable, inclusive societies where young people can thrive.

At SPARK, we believe that access to economic opportunities is the foundation for peace and development. Our mission is to empower young people through practical education, job creation, and business support, especially in regions affected by conflict, displacement, or high unemployment. By connecting youth with the tools and resources they need to succeed, we aim to reduce inequality, prevent extremism, and contribute to long-term social and economic stability.
Empowering Youth in the Kurdistan Region
In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, SPARK has been working closely with local partners to address the root causes of youth vulnerability. Through the Networks of Change (NOC) programme, SPARK has supported the establishment of youth hubs, vocational awareness campaigns, and training sessions that offer safe spaces and practical alternatives. Our efforts are centred on enabling youth to build meaningful futures in their own communities through knowledge, skills, and strong local networks.
